  • My cookies are not certified organic. They are beyond organic.

Organic certification is commonly done by the USDA, QAI, and other certification companies. While these certifications are far from meaningless, each certifying organization has its own rubric and its own masters to serve. Certification can also be a costly process not suited to the needs of a small businesses.

While my cookies use many certified organic ingredients, others, like my heritage wheat, are not certified even though they may meet or exceed corporate organic certification standards.

Per my permitting body, I am currently prohibited from using the word “organic” on my labels even when ingredients are organic and non-gmo.

  • My cookies and vanilla extract are free from seed oils, emulsifiers, stabilizers, and preservatives.

While I do not stock peanuts and tree nuts in my kitchen, please reach out if you are working around a severe allergy so that I can make sure circumstances have not changed and you will be safe. alex@realheritage.co

  • None of my ingredients contain genetically modified material.

  • My cookies are neither gluten nor dairy free.

They are suitable for vegetarians. They also may be suitable for vegans who are vegan in response to factory farming practices, and would otherwise use animal products. I agree with most vegans on that topic and my sourcing reflects those values.

They are made with sourdough and a whole heritage grain. The grain is grown on a small farm that doesn't use pesticides, glyphosate, or ammonia. In my experience as someone who formerly followed a gluten-free diet, heritage grains helped mitigate my sensitivity when transitioning back to wheat consumption.

Butter comes from grass-fed California cows and it is browned before the baking process. The milk in my milk chocolate is certified organic. And my dark chocolate is vegan and dairy-free.

While I do not stock peanuts and tree nuts in my kitchen, please reach out if you are working around a severe allergy so that I can make sure circumstances have not changed and you will be safe alex@realheritage.co (424) 209-2605
